pin
I am not an expert John but I guess it depends entirely on what they mean by "ballistically" the same. To an ammo manufacturer that probably means they produce muzzle velocities and pressures which are about the same. Even a slight difference in the seating depth of the bullet could make all the difference in your rifle.

Dunkield
AE's seem to be changing... I only ever use the 50grn hollow points 'cos they work in my gun. The latest batch of 100 I bought (the ones in the red/black box as always) now have green goo round the primer pocket and have different cases  They still shoot the same, almost boringly "why bother reloading" accuracy at 7-8 quid a box. I have never seen the other sort, but the only time I bought 55grn's fmj's they were in a smaller box, still red/black though.

deadeye ive
John if your really curious then purchase a set of digital scales off flea bay (must be able to weigh at least 200grns)......If the conponents are EXACTLY the same then more powder might be in one batch than the other . Did they cost the same ?
