tom_0787
Would £450 be well spent on a 3 month old remington SPR 310 28" barrels multi choke? My heads spinning from all the guns ive been researching so i'd love some input! Its from the place i shoot clays and they've said if i decide to pack up shooting or want to upgrade in the future they will give me 450 back for it so its basically on loan. MC
£450 for a Baikal is a lot of cash, For that sort of money you could get something half way decent. THe Remington/spartan/baikal is a bomb proof design with plenty of tractor technology built in, Knock a fence post in with it in the morning and shoot with it in the afternoon. As long as they honour the deal they have offered you can't really go wrong so you may as well try it at least.
casts_by_fly
Hi tom, I have one. Mine is the 26" barrel. Before that gun, I shot fixed chokes. I didn't have a versatile enough gun for all the shooting I was doing so I started looking. I found mine used for $225 USD (I was in the states at the time) and I snapped it up. Pros- Solidly built, inexpensive Cons- heavier than other guns, some describe as 'club like' Mine had pretty wood and an ugly finish. It was nicely figured walnut but it had a single coat of matte finish. I stripped it down, put a coat or two of stain to highlight the grain, and put a bunch of polyurethane over top. I love the finish now and it is much more protected. The other 'fix' that I did was to adjust the ejector springs. They are a bit long and heavy on the new guns. The gun can be tight to close and the shells will eject 15+' like little rockets. Following some good advice on shotgunworld.com I pulled the springs, trimed down 4 or 6 coils, and put it all back together. All told it took less than 10 minutes and that included getting the gun out of the case and putting everything away. Now the gun closes much smoother and the shells eject nicer. For an inexpensive do everything gun, I like the SPR series. For £450 I don't know that I would buy one as I have seen nicer guns (used) for the same price here. Thanks, Rick
