Griff36
Went clay shooting last night and on the last stand I loaded 2 cartridges as normal but my Browning 325 refused to close. On closer inspection I noticed that the top firing pin was protruding by 1/8", I gave it a tap and it returned to its normal position and fired as normal. When I opened the gun back up the firing pin was again protruding. Is this something that I can repair myself or will it be a trip to my RFD? MC
Sounds to me as if you have a broken firing pin, you can do it yourself if you can get the pin, if not drop it in to your local gunsmith.
john faul
probably a broken firing pin , or if it is only sticking out about 3 mm if your browning is the same as my mirouku the top pin is free to slide in and out . hope this helps
Griff36
Cheers for quick replies, I think I'll drop it off at my local gunsmith. Could I have done something wrong to cause this problem or is this a common fault? I have only been shooting for 3 months and have been careful not to dry fire it and after reading this forum I do not use snap caps.
john faul
that would be your best option
Graham M
Be careful, the top firing pins on Browning’s aren't fitted with a little return spring and can give the appearance of being broken when they aren’t. More likely the end of the pin has swollen slightly and just needs re-profiling to allow it to fall back into place. G.M.
