Shootingman
How do you mount your deeks on your magnet, do you have the deek flat or at a slight cant.
Cranfield
I angle mine slightly outwards, so the wing bars can be seen better from the parallel, if that makes sense.
Mr Slater
How do you mount your deeks on your magnet, do you have the deek flat or at a slight cant. I've only just got my magnet so don't know, but your post got me thinking. I'm prepared to be wrong on this but............. If both decoys are flat a pigeon coming in will see them both turning constantly. If, however, both decoys were canted the same way it would see two lots of wing flashes and then the underside, two lots of wing flashes etc. I'd have thought the second scenario would be more effective. As I said, I'm happy to be proved wrong but it's certainly got me thinking.
pavman
Have to go with Cranners on birds, However I have swapped over to the Hypa Flaps on almost all situations as I find the wing motion in the pattern adds that little extra pulling power
grasshopper
I was using the Hypa flaps the other day, canted in over slightly. They worked great, pulled in the pigeon but also had crow deeks set up and they seemed to pull them in also, although they veered toward the flapper with a crow on it when they got closer. Don,t want to hijack the thread but a question..1 flapper worked faultlessly all day,but on the other,1 of the wings kept turning inside out(had the stronger brown rods through them) 1st time i,ve used them so brand new...any ideas why fellas Oh results were 25 pigeon & 77 crow/jackdaw,and 1 rabbit GH

The bar needs to be central between each wing pocket and pass through the neck about 4 corrigations back keeping the bar, neck and wing pockets in a straight line. The front of each wing then needs to be bent back over the bar creating a flap. Each wing tip needs to be rolled several times towards the body of the decoy. It should curl inwards and look like a handlebar moustache. As for the angle of the flapper on the magnet. Put the hypa flaps on the magnet set it going and look at how well the birds wings are flapping. If one side is flapping more (usually the right wing if rotating clockwise) then alter the angle of the bird on the magnet. Your aim is to get both wings flapping about the same.
