ferretmanabu
I've read a few posts on here that say they like to have a solid background to the hide to break up silhouettes in the hide. I'm just interested to know what you use for this purpose. I'm sure when I was out shooting the other day that pigeons could see me in the hide because there was no solid background. Normally my hide is very close to the hedge but this wasn't possible that day so I'm thinking it may be the cause. Does it have to be a net type thing or can you just use some green cloth type stuff. malkiserow
The advice of don't move is still true in most hides since if your top is open any movement will often be seen. I often find that when I emerge from a hide to go to collect birds or something ... I take a few steps and look up to see an incoming bird.... usually if I take the gun out then freeze when I see the incomer... I shoot it when I am in the field..... so maybe movement (or lack of) is more important. cheers Malk

If there is no suitable background I use a double net across the back, if you are in full dpm and keep very still then pigeon will still come in, often when tidying up the fallen I have had birds come in so I always take the gun.
