.223 WSSM

Recommended Posts

A lot of money so it is essential you reload. Factory is well over a £ a bang over here.

They are an excellent cartridge and for some reason both the WSM and the WSSM range provide better bullet weight variety / accuracy than their standard cal equivalent.

I bought, tried and was impressed with both the 223WSSM and the 243WSSM but have decided to keep the standard cals in 22cf disregard the 243 but stick with a 25WSSM and I really am pleased with it. Such a small action - lightweight rifle (WW Featherweight) but super performance that equates to my 25-06 or even betters it.

Take the plunge - you will not be disappointed.

Interesting!

I'm paying $30 a box. This equates to about £11 (so say about 60p a shot)! So along with everything else here (apart from vegetables) alot cheaper!

I'm really impressed with the calibre and factory ammo groups really well. I'm shooting the Super-X 55gr through a 1/10 twist.

That is about 1/2 price to the UK.

I loaded my own in Federal factory once fired cases with WW magnum primers and 45gr of W760 under a 55grn Ballistic Tip.

I chose that load as I use B/Tips in the 223 and the 22-250 and others seemed to get good results with WW powder.

It certainly seemed OK running around 3790fps it was also pretty flat and certainly the equal of the 22-250 with 38gr of H380.

Hello weihrauch power just out of interest what quarry do you shoot over in austrailia with your centre-fire rifles?Also is there coyotes in austrailia?Just courious as im heading over there next year for a year hopefully ???

Mark

I'm shooting fox, rabbit, feral dogs and feral cats. Never seen the last two as they're aren't many in my area. Just listed everything i'd take a pop at.

No coyotes over here but alot of feral dogs and dingos. They're mainly found in the Northern parts of Australia such as Queensland and the Northern Territory. I've been told that .223 is the calibre of choice amongst the pro roo cullers. There are alot of goats to be shot with the larger centrefires and moving up again you have your feral pigs. Then if you really want to go all out there are scrub bulls and camels. Australia also has a huge variety of deer including Sambar, Fallow, Chital and Rusa.

If you head over you'll thoroughly enjoy yourself, your only problem will be not wanting to leave!

:lol::good:
