Pistol shooting in Northern/Rep of Ireland etc

Can anyone tell me what the pistol shooting scene is like in parts of the Isles where it was not banned?

 

E.G. : Club avaliabilty, getting membership and what shooting disiplines are avalaible? Including practical?

 

. Once you a full club member how difficult is it to get a Pistol on a FAC? Are there any problems with calibres? E.g 9mm and .45, .44mag etc

 

. What is the avaliability like from gun dealers? Is it easy to get a average semi or revolver ordered? Are they particularly expensive compared to other nations like the USA or Canada?

in n ireland there are numerous clubs to shoot pistol and full bore rifles. i know one club with a membership of around 150 quid, use club guns for a year then they write tou a letter of proficiency and you can then buy anything approved for that range. if the club uses mod ranges for so many days in the year that allows you to buy bigger, i have heard of a couple of guys going for 308s. gunshops normally hold a good range of handguns and rifles. my boss shoots practical pistol most weeks

pretty much anything i know of 22, 32 .40 , 44 and 9 mm, all have to be used on club grounds though. i also hear that s ireland may be easing up on pistols too.

Good few folk have them down here now aswell. Its on the increase here.
