The below was published by Country Sports Ireland today in respect of the in coming lockdown in Northern Ireland. Seems to be at odds with BASC advice at present...

New Covid-19 Regulations - UPDATE

The NI Executive has now published detailed guidance on the new Covid-19 regulations which will come into effect from 00:01 on December 26, 2020 (link below). These new regulations will be in place for six weeks, until 2nd February and there will be a one-week period of additional restrictions from 26 December to 2 January.

During the period 26th December to 2nd January the regulations say, “Only individual or household outdoor exercise is permitted". Therefore recreational/rough shooting on an individual (or individual household) basis only will be permitted during the period 26th December to 2nd January.

There may be scope for additional shooting activity after 2nd January. We have today written to the First and Deputy First Minister at the NI Executive Office seeking clarification on the regulations as they relate to shooting between 2nd Jan and 2nd Feb and asking for consideration to be given to allowing additional game shooting during this period in a way that fully complies with all Covid-19 public health measures.

We of course will update Country Sports Ireland members as soon as any advice changes but in the meantime recreational/rough shooting on an individual (or individual household) basis, will be the only game shooting activity permitted.

Essential pest and predator control for the protection crops, woodland or livestock has been permitted during all other Covid-19 restriction periods and may continue during the lockdown period 26th December to 2nd February.

So that means I can get out for my usual boxing day solo morning round the hedgerows. Happy days
