Where does the rifle balance on the sticks? Might not sit how you like as they sit 80% forward of the QD stud. You can flip down the legs as you rest the rifle on the sticks but it's awkward.

They don't weigh a lot (the 9-13) but it's so far forward it will make the balance different. Best thing is if you have the stud anyway, try one off a mate and see..

cheers pin,

will have to look into it, think it could be a case of sticking to the "stick" just like buying things cant help it........

Whoa, that's scary familiar. Just lucky I ran out of money before that habit got me into trouble or who knows what could've happened.

Tell ya this much, I don't use sticks, but, I do on and off have a bipod on my Sako Quad. Normally it's a well balanced, light, pointable and easy to carry rifle. Add a bipod and it's like driving a Lada with bad steering across an ice rink. Ok I over exaggerate but you get my point. Still, after my last rabbit outing (forgot scope bracket, and bipod.....) I'm putting the bipod back on. And the bracket.

Cutting a long pointless story short, try one out if you can first, then buy one. (Make sure you get a swivel one).

I too always use shooting stix, but there have been a couple of occasions lately where a bipod would have been bloody useful.

I have a T8 on the front of my T3 so adding a bipod ain’t gonna do much to alter the balance (it doesn’t have any balance with that humongous thing on the front end). But!!! I wonder whether shooting from a standing position with stix, and then lying prone with a bipod, will alter the POI.

The reason I ask is because it used to make a hell of a difference when I tried one on my Finnfire (used to shoot 2-3inches higher with the bipod on  ), so I wondered if the Tikka would be the same.

Anyone had a similar thing.

Poi seems to be about the same on my sako 243 either off the sticks or off the bipod, - having a T8 on the end and a bipod its seems to balance its self out somehow

If you place the sticks just behind the bipod, you can shoot pretty well IMHO - i have a bipod on all three rifles and use sticks, but dont get any problems when out shooting.

My Harris 9-13 swivel has just arrived courtesy of ebay. £49.88+£7.99 p&p.

£58 for a brand new 9-13 Harris bipod………..

My local gunshop wants @ £90 for one of these, and as much as I want to support my local shop, a 33+% saving is too much to pass up.

I'm on an Irish shooting forum from time to time (less lately as its...) a guy there put up a 6-9" swivel for 50 Euro (about £37 I think) I took three of his fingers when I snapped it up  He's mainly a target shooter I think, it'd been on the rifle maybe twice, absolutely mint almost better than new!

There are deals to be had.
