You will have to wait now until the new crop list comes out. THis could be November-ish

Cheers for that Jonno! So when actualy is end of harvest for future reference? and no shooting till new lists?

dissapointed newbie!!!

I usually class the end of harvest, when the fields are ploughed untill then you can shoot on the stubble.... :lol:

Hi

I too have just joined NPPC and hope to get some shooting in this week.

Is anyone still shooting the fields in the Durham/ N Yorkshire area and what sort of success if you are.

Yep - Jonno is correct, we usually receive a field list in November.

HARVEST:

During harvest the crops are cut and the grain etc removed leaving short stalks called stubble.

Harvest begins in July and continues through August, some of the harvested fields remain in stubble until late September.

OILSEED RAPE:

This crop is planted during August and September, it often follows a crop such as barley.

It will emerge in about 10-14 days after being sown and each 'plant' has 3 or 4 green leaves which look a bit like v.small 'dandilion' leaves.

It can grow strongly during September but come the winter months(cold-hopefully) it stops growing, restarting new growth in late March/April this is also the time spring rape can be sown.

If your a shrewd decoyer you can shoot over it most of the time !!

Cheers C.B. :~}

Welcome to NPPC Hogey, if you've got list 50 keep it for reference only because if there is any rape stubble up your way remaining pigeons wont decoy on to it now, you will have to call John and check if he has any other 'hotspots'.

He got me on some wheat stubble near Selby last week but thats just been ploughed in.

Cheerio C.B.:~}
