Sitting duck and slow worms.

Was clearing some unwanted foliage and lifting some (heavy) yorkstone on a job this week, and unfortunately/accidentally discovered a mallard's nest and 3 slow worms.

We stopped cutting the foliage when the hen flew of after being disturbed. She soon came back to sit on approximately 10? eggs, and hasn't moved since 🙂 She was getting fidgety on Thursday, so won't be long before the patter of tiny feet 😃

Then, on lifting the final two slabs of yorkstone, there were 2 medium sized and 1 small slow worms 🙂 I gently ushered them into a handy bucket and released them into a suitable area across the other side of the property 😁

So hopefully no harm done and it was lovely to see these, all be it accidentally 😊

Just thought I'd share 😄

She is sitting tight there

She certainly is ! You could see her tense up if we got too close, with a glare and a beak down pose ! Very protective,,,, hope she's successful 🙂
