Pigeon flock yesterday!

I went out yesterday to walk the boundaries on a new permission. It's about 250 acres and its all arable, which in my neck of the woods is truly magic!!!

I parked the car, and started to walk to where I had shot on just the one field a few weeks back. I noticed a few pigeon on a near by newly ploughed field, but when I turned into the next field, I could hardly believe what I was looking at, pigeon everywhere!

I shot one, and with that they all lifted off, about 150 - 200, its many many years since I've seen that many!

As I say, the land is all arable on this new permission, and there's also more farms around which are a mixture of arable and dairy, there's also a lot of woodland.

I had no decoys, hide etc with me as I only had the intention of walking the land with a shotgun, but I wedged into a hedge hoping for a return, but only a few bunches of 1-5 came back, the big flock was gone all afternoon.

In my area of the UK where nearly all farming is dairy, you don't see the large flocks nowadays which some of the lucky shooters on this site take for granted.

So hopefully, I will have the chance of some good pigeon shooting in the future.

Well i went out this morning on some cut maize, it was raining, and only managed 4, there was someone shooting across the road though who seemed to be putting off more shots than me. Im going to try again tomorrow on a ploughed field which has a backrow of tree's full of berries and acorns.

If you ever need a hand let me know :)
