Limbo
Hi everyone. I've been lurking on here for a while now and finally thought I'd post. I recieved my FAC a few weeks back (took two months from West Sussex) and have been busy spending money. I've been granted .22, 7.62mm, 7.92mm, .303 and .308. I shoot at Bisley so I mainly do target shooting and clays too. I currently own a Beretta 686e, a Lee Enfield No.4 Mk1, Mauser K98 (shortly) and I'm now in the market for a .22. After reading loads of posts on here and other sites and also looking at my bank account I have decided to go for a CZ (I like the Silhouette). I am waiting for my permissions to come through on some land and will be doing some bunny bashing with it. However, I will probably use it more for target shooting (I go to Bisley most weekends) and will use it on the indoor range (50m) when the weather is too grim on the outside ranges or on the 100m, 200m and 300m when it's possible. Finally I get to my question.....I am very confused about scopes and sizes and makes etc etc and I am trying to learn quickly. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the kind of scope that would be good for my usage (20% hunting - 80% target shooting)?? I know the advice is to spend as much money on the glass as possible but I quite like being married and my relationship with my bank manager is good at the moment!! So to sum up......a half-decent, not too pricey, multi-range, multi-use scope!!!! Is this possible?? Sorry for the long first post but will probably the first of many. I will fill in my profile too!! Oly
Nikko Sterling Nighteater or Viper sounds like they should cover all your bases without breaking the bank (sub ~£230)
sandersj89
I have a Nikko on my HMR, might be a bit OTT for a .22 though they are a nice scope for the price. Also have a look at some of the Hawke scopes, they are fine for .22 rimmie use and easy on the pocket.

Forgot to say, like the above, possibly a bit OTT for a rimfire but excellent light transmission for clarity (& good for when lamping etc), but also with practice the mildots are very handy for holdover etc when being used on a rimmy. Sussex Countryman
Limbo Try looking on the ebay Canadian site when you have made up your mind. Scopes seem very cheap in comparison to the UK and lots of sellers will ship to the UK. Whereabouts in W Sussex are you? Sx Ctymn

I'm just outside of Haslemere (which is in Surrey) but fall within West Sussex. Bisley is only 30 mins away so I can pretty much have any gun I want as long as shoot on their ranges.....Could be expensive though!!! Looked at a Bushnell scope today...seemed pretty good. It's a real minefield though!!
SAVAGE HMR
If I were you I'd splash out and get yourself a decent scope, I was constantly upgrading from scope to scope trying to find the best one but not wanting to pay to much money but at the end of the day you get what you pay for. On the sound advice of a friend I bought myself a "Swarovski PV-S 6-24x50 P" and it's the best scope I've ever used in my life. If you buy a scope from Swarovski you will never have to upgrade it cause you cant get any better. I payed about £1000 for mine but for a .22 caliber you can get all you need from under £400 or £500 If your unsure about spending so much money pop in to any gunsmiths and ask to have a look at some Swarovski scopes, you'd be amazed at how great the optics are in comparison to other bog standard scopes. Give it some though, £500 isnt alot of money to spend on a scope that'll last you a life time!
