Unfortunately I can't help him, nor can I upload pictures here except direct from my camera. It's an American made SBS which someone suggested to be around 1880 +. Yeah, a number 3; could mean anything I suppose. I seriously doubt proof marks were a thing when that was made, especially if American made.
