BBC hen harrier article

Very much bias from the rspb on how grouse estates are the issue still

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ceq7dwq24geo

@Conor O'Gorman might be one for basc media team to contact the BBC with comment. As looking at that article the RSPB seem to be taking credit for something they walked away from .. showing how the harrier has come back but still illegally killed etc. standard anti shoot rhetoric

Thanks, this will have been picked up by the media team and they will be reviewing it it for any bias.

It is good to see the continued recovery of hen harrier populations. Sporting estates are vital for restoring raptor numbers, but continued persecution will finish game shooting. If the hen harriers continue to be shot, trapped and poisoned, that will be the end of grouse shooting and restrictions on all game shooting will follow, regardless of our conservation credentials.

BASC and other shooting organisations will continue to argue against the need for further restrictions on game shooting. However, the credibility of our arguments around self-regulation will be undermined if the raptor killing does not stop. And if we are looking for blame, let’s stop focusing on the media or the antis and start condemning and exposing the raptor-killing criminals and those who aid and abet them.

With that in mind, if anyone reading this thread knows of, or encounters, any form of raptor persecution please report it to your local police force immediately. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously through Crimestoppers by telephoning 0800 555 111.

I fear this will never be stopped. And I would not be surprised if some of the anti shooting fraternity take part in this to create the media, surely any keeper who would practice such abhorrent behaviour would hide the evidence!!!
