Bigbob
I bought my grandson a kids quad when i was buying books from a lady all i got was the quad and at the first time trying it he didn't like it and wouldn't hold his foot flat to the floor on the pedal to make it go , After a wee while he was using it in the back garden them he was driving round the pavement of the cull de sac it was quiet and he had supervision , Then you could see it lose power and smell the battery when you charged it . So i ordered a new battery from ebay fitted it about a month ago and away he went quite happy . Today after charging it a couple of hours you could smell the battery so i took it out and the lot is going to the dump tomorrow .Only thing i can think of is its a six volt battery and i was charging it with my lamp charger which is 12 volts ?> Which is annoying if i caused it because i have 6volt chargers for my other lights
amateur
Is it a Li-On battery? If so, you were fortunate that it didn’t catch fire.

You won't do it much good putting 12v through it, but at least it shouldn't catch fire!
