wy111
Can Anyone help. I've a disabled mate who taken up shooting again and he's been given a badly damaged Berretta S686 Special to sort out and buy if he wants. It's been "dropped" and has a 3/16th ding in the end of the top barrel and the forend has cracked. He has the ability to repair it himself and wonder's what it is worth in the damaged condition and what it may be worth after repair. It will probaly need rechoking after the repair, so this will have to be taken into account. Thanks in advance for any help given Dave
MC
I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole mate, more aggro than it is worth. Unless you saw the barrels down to clear the ding and glue the forend but you can't put choke back in. Teagues will multichoke it for you for a price and assuming there is enough thickness in the barrel walls.
Baldrick
That sounds like a costly idea. If your pal did take a saw to the barrels, he'd probably have to have the Beretta re-proofed, after all the fore end repair had been done. If I was your mate, I would ditch that proposal pretty quickly.
