cstubbs05
Hi I just bought a cheap ish silma under and over for my friend to use clay shooting . And I started to hear a rattle from the action once I opened the action and looked while the pins have set the triggers both pins rattle back and forth . And if I reset and one fire the right hand side that pin is solid and the left hand pin rattles back and forth ? I show the shop that I bought it from and was told that these particular shotguns have what he said floating pins ? I have never heard this or seen it before but I have limited knowledge on shotguns anyway . I did purchace a new pin on line thinking it maybe these are worn or faulty but was advised there is nothing wrong with the setting pins they are supposed to be like that . Bit to me it seems odd and alittle annoying having them rattle all the time So any advice would be great Thank you Sorry I can't spell etc
hawkfanz
those pins are cocking levers, when the gun is opened they set the hammers again,as long as they work its ok.
cstubbs05
Ok I thought they are the trigger setting pins once the trigger is set they both rattle back and forth and once both upper and lower trigger pins have activated the left hand pin still rattles the right pin is solid . Just seems weird that they both rattle about after the triggers have been set once both barrels havebeen fired only the left hand pin still rattles . The gun works OK as we put 50 shells through it today and not a fault insight apart from those pi s rattling I've had a few different shotguns over the years but never had one that rattles so much . My friend is new to shooting so it doesn't really bother him but I notice the rattle of those pins and if it was mine it would get on my nerves having them rattle all the time I would be waiting for them to fail . Are they supposed to be free floating pins as never heard of that before or are they worn and close to failing as we bought the gun used and was told they are free floating pins ?? Seems a fob off to me .. I hope I am wrong but it's an annoying rattle Thanks for any help

Thought ide reach out to someone that may know about this particular gun and see if they are supposed to be free floating or is it worn and pins or springs etc might need replacing

So, if it is bothering you so much, you will never shoot it well. You will constantly be shaking it, wondering if the rattle has disappeared. I had a Miroku Mk38 that continually caught my cheek bone. I tried various 'stick on' comb raisers to alleviate the problem, but I spent more time wondering about the fit of the gun, so I swapped it for a 725. Problem over.
