Dunkield
You could try the Remington stuff, it was rubbish in my 6.5 but it may work for you in .308 Sellier and Bellot is also pretty cheap I use PPU ammo on the range and good (which unfortunately means expensive) ammo for deer, as not hat many shots are taken and they have to be accurate and consistant. Paul223
Re load your own keep all your shot brass you will not get a more acurate round than that Have to agree with that, if you don't want to reload I'm sure i can find a home for that ppu brass
mry716
I am surprised that PP doesn't shoot better than that. You are very much the exception and before you give up I would look to other factors for poor grouping. The other excellent cheap ammo is PPC which is available from York Guns and anyone they supply. Ring them to find who sells it near to you.

I f you are serious about stalking , then you should be experimenting with different cartridges on the range ,untill you find a round that shoots well in your rifle .All factory loads deliver enough power to kill deer cleanly ,so its up to you to find one that works in your rifle .You do not need M.O.A. accuracy to kill deer cleanly at 50 to 150 yards . yes 150 yards is a long shot on deer ,50 to 100 yards in my book is closer to the proper sporting range .If you carnt get this close in woodland stalking than your technich is wrong . I have perfected a .308 load for my rifle (ruger m77 lightweight scout ) that is soft to shoot and will hold a 2 inch group 100 yards . not exactly M.O.A. but more than adequet to shoot deer at the correct sporting ranges . As for using your .308 for foxes ,much ,much ,to much gun . Harnser .

I was talked into the 308 by my local dealer, previously i had a 243 which i wish now i still had. i have shot about 15/20 foxes with this rifle and i find it ok although i do not shoot more than about 170/180yds. deer i would not shoot more than 100yds, i have since my last post re-zeroed (after some excellent advice from Mry) and using the same PP ammo have still only achieved a 4" group at 100yds which is better than before but i would still like it a bit tighter. however i have now purchased a set of reloading dies and my friend is going to hand load for me. hopefully this will sort it. i have also been advised with a 308 you have to clean the barrel after every 5 shots? which i have never heard of before, with the 243 i very rarely cleaned my barrel and i never lost accuracy in the five years that i had it. when i say i never cleaned it i mean i only ever pulled it through and never wire brushed it with solvents. thanks for the advice. Verminer Hi again verminer . If you have a lightweight barrel on your rifle ,like i do on mine it will heat up very quickly whilst zeoring .I can only shoot 3 or 4 rounds through mine before it gets to hot to handle .when red hot the barrel will lose accuracy and you will get fliers all over the place ,this is sometimes mistaken for poor shooting or poor ammo .It is essenstial to let the barrel cool down between shots when zeroing . I had a heavy bull barraled target rifle in 7.62 which used to shoot all over the place after about 6 or 7 quick shots ,but when cold it was a M.O.A.rifle .Give the rifle a chance by letting it cool down when zeoing .As to needing to clean after every 5 shots ,Load of old tosh .Harnser .
