Floating Chamber
Recently, I picked up seven slabs of flood-damaged 16gauge and 20gauge shells for a tenner a slab. (Only the outers were damp.) My not having a 16g or 20g gun is no problem, when sets of these little items are to hand. The sleeves fit in my 12g o/u and work a treat. The 12/16 cycle my Rem 1100 but finding them later!!!!!!!!!!! That's why I only use them on Doveridge Skeet!
Guest The Outlaw
That looks pretty cool. Do you not lose bact presure when you only sleeve the chamber though? Can you not use the full barrel tubes. Tony
Floating Chamber
That looks pretty cool. Do you not lose bact presure when you only sleeve the chamber though? Can you not use the full barrel tubes. Tony Tony, These are not like the old Webley 12/.410 adaptor of 40 years ago. The later models were fitted with 'o' rings. These 12/16 and 12/20 tubes are made from thin flexible steel. They are only the length of a fired shell and 'open' directly into the forcing cones. The sub-calibre 'payload' has no resistance in the bore, so there is little or no gas-leakage. However, my 12/28 and 12/.410 are thicker and made from an alloy and are a bit sooty. I will fit a simple 'o' ring to these. Briley tubes cost an arm and a leg. I can afford to discard these when my shells run out!

I have to pop into work and hand a property over to an estate agent so I will be back later. Tony
new to the flock
For some reason the picture is not coming up for me, but I would imagine these are the skeeter tubes by brownng. If so they throw exceptionally good patterns and at $80 dollars Cdn a pair are excellant value for the money. thats about 40 pounds. You can get these to take any of the shot guns down in size from 12 guage to 28 to 20 to 16 to 410. NTTF

Floating Chamber
No Mate, I'm not in the habit of doing that! (Only hacking into...) Did you see the drawing of the tubes? They even give you the dimensions.I reckon silver steel would be OK. FC

Floating Chamber
I remember Jack and Colin being mortified when their 'Marsh Cannon' failed proof. Just been in the workshop and rooted out the sister tube to the one I had nicked. Just checked the bore at 1". Needs a lot of striking off! I think I'll have another go and mount it on a pram*; next year I'll have the Canadas on stubble, up the road! * I heard a bloke did this once and was run over by the pram as the piece recoiled! It's the shorter of the two and just short of six foot. I thought about making it a shoulder piece but the Mountainman's 4 bore cracked my teeth and this would be bigger!
