Hoptoit
Hi Guys, I thought this might be of interest to some of you. In order to access areas for kangaroo and rabbit shooting I used to set up quad bikes with roll cages and rifle rests. The main gun (223) would be in a holder on the shooting rest with the barrel held by a hole in the front section. This meant you could just pull the gun back a foot then slide it on to the rest for a shot. Very effective unit. My record on roos was 10 head shots in 60 seconds including a magazine reload. This unit will spin on a dime so you can be in position in seconds.
Minky
I've never seen roll bars fitted before so that different. Here in the UK it is damp and at times there is an amount of moisture out there (fog)which can reflect the power of the light beam back making the target difficult to pick out. Moving the light out or up reduces the reflected light. Goodstuff. Edit. Saying the above, mostly night shooting is now done with infrared with lazer target illumination along with heat sensing thermal imaging. It's almost unsporting. Hoptoit
Don't worry we have fog. It'll just blank out and you may as well go home. Some guys here use thermal but I've never really got in to it, expense partly. I run a 100 watt HID with a 4300k bulb which is close to halogen light colouring. Roos will bolt after one shot here with thermal whereas I can take multiple targets under light. I'm sure other places the roos may behave differently with less disturbance by poachers out in the backblocks. The main thing is I don't seem to have a problem filling up my ute with my system as it is.
