Rossenarra
Ok me again, ranting on about what foxing rifle to get, just speaking to gun dealer, he gave me a price on a Styer pro varmint and maintains that they’re the business. OK, he is the main dealer but he was quiet convincing. He maintained that Sako has screwed up on the 85, that the trigger action are faulty and the 75 was a lot better Best foxing rifle if ya had a few quid would be a Blaser blab bla bla (can’t remember the model he said….I’m great for the detail) So any one know anything about the MANNLICHER PRO VARMINT
Oly
Yep, he's right the 75 is much better than the 85. Sako seem to have done this nearly across the board recently - the 85 and the quad IMO definately aren't as good as their predecessors Mannlicher Pro Varmint - Nice guns, I wouldn't have a problem buying one. Personally I would still get the Remington over the Mannlicher though!
moses
I have a Sako 75 and love it but, I shot an 85 in stainless synth 6.5x55 on Tuesday and was impressed with it. The mag release(release catch and depress) was slightly different and you can extract the chambered round with the safety engaged The action was nice and smooth and trigger was excellent. I liked it so much I was thinking of getting one. Moses

That's interesting to hear, maybe Sako just aren't getting consistent trigger production? Might be worth trying the one your thinking about buying before putting your money down then. He rates the action highly and has blueprinted quite a few already with excellent results. Sako have altered the safety slightly, allowing the safety to be engaged but a cartridge to be removed. Altered the bolt shroud, removing the very unpopular lock. But he tells me the trigger system is very, very similar to the one on the 75. I used one (stainless synthetic 308) the other day for paper punching, it was fabulous! I have only used one rifle I liked more and that was the Sauer 202 ft
