AdamC
I have seen other members referring to using "The Force" in threads about eye dominence and fancy gun beads. As some may have read in my other posts, I am just getting back into shooting, and concerned about my corss eye dominence which I think has always caused me a problem. I use to wear an eye patch, and have just ordered an Easy Hit for my new gun, but here is the thing: Just practicing my gun mount as instructed by Shirley @ Oxford Guns (wouldn't dare not too), and thought I would try something. So I imagined the corner of the room was my target, fixed it in the centre of my vision, and mounted the gun naturally. I did not think about gun, barrels, beads or aim. Tried this a few times, looking at decorations hanging on the tree, and to my mazement, when I closed my left eye, I was still bang on target. This was somewhat of a eureka moment for me, and started regretting ordering the easyhit. Of course I realise practicing moutning in my lounge is a world away from tracking a clay and breaking it, and the Easy Hit type devices seem to have a very loyal following. I have also read that eye domince can change through the day depending on light conditions and how tired you are etc. I may leave the Easy Hit in its packaging for the time being and try using the force and just looking where I want to shoot. Sorry for the slightly random post, but I have to confess I was quite excited.

Guest The Outlaw
Hi AdamC. As you may have read I use the EasyHit bead. I find it most useful on targets that are a long way out, you are right though eye domminance does change with different things going on. I practice by mounting the gun with my left eye closed letting my right eye pick up on the bead, then open both eyes, call the target and mount and shoot as normal. I would say it is putting my scores up by 20% on registered as the targets are normally that bit further out. Tony
AdamC
After thinking about this some more, I do feel that whilst my new found Jedi abilities may work on simple targets, anything a little more demanding will be hard to gague lead and also height. I will give it a try, but think I will end up putting the Easy Hit on just to maximise my scores. Itching to get out and shoot some clays, but family members want to get me some of the shooting bits for Christmas, so feel a bit naughty about going out at the weekend and using it all, only for them to wrap it all up to give to me 2 days later. Itching to get out and shoot some clays, but family members want to get me some of the shooting bits for Christmas, so feel a bit naughty about going out at the weekend and using it all, only for them to wrap it all up to give to me 2 days later. Easy Hit - great bit of kit, but I picked up the "longest" one and fitted it, shot for a while (scores improved) until on a sunny day on some high birds I found my eyes drawn to it and not the clay - it was bright enough to blot them out in my vision! Took it off for the day, but planning on putting it back on as I think my scores have suffered on other days - tempting to use a little tape to shield a bit of the optical section so its not quite so bright! One thing to be aware of when fitting - the foam/sticky that comes in the kit will raise the sight by about 1-2mm, and this is actually higher than the existing bead on mine, resulting in the mid-bead not giving "figure - 8" when I started using it. A little waterproof silicone sealant as a semi-removable glue did the trick neatly and without raising the bead. I use "The Force" for fast movers - I find it difficult to judge them otherwise... :-( Cheers, Edwin
