benelli 1
I'm thinking about getting me ole man a digi camera for christmas (left it late ) and have been looking at the hitachi HDC-85IE as i like the look of it. Only thing is i cant seem to find out much info about them and was wandering if anyboby has got one or knows someone who has got one and what they think of it. We have a breaker make by them and that one is top notch. Just wandering what there cameras are like
dunganick
there are a few rules with buying camera's, Buy a sony (except the w55 which is really a kodak), canon, nikon, olympus Dont buy a kodak or casio Hitachi make some good electricals, so it may be fine, but i am not aware of them having a relationship with a lense manufactor, so they may be using any old lenses. Depends how much they are, ive never come cross one before so couldnt comment from experiance, but ive got a fair emount of experiance of compact camera's from the above makes. bare in mind the cost of memory, as it will not come with either any or enough, make sure it uses lithium or nimh rechargeables not AA's Also consider if he will want a viewfinder or not. I know 2 very happy casio owners, one has had 2 or 3 now can't remember I also know 2 unhappy canon owners, one, my old man has given up with his, and gone back to an olympus. My next digi camera will probably be a Panasonic Lumix. Horses for courses I guess . .

dunganick
fact, kodak and casio have the highest returns of almost any digi camera's in my store
Dunkield
Based on what percentage of sales though?
dunganick
Based on what percentage of sales though? kodak probably in the ball park of 25%-30% at an estimate (admitadly they sell high volume), but behind samsung supprisingly. Samsung doing a cheap line of AA camera's which are prooving very reliable. I'm not trying to say kodak are cack, for the money they represent alot of camera for the £, however i try to not sell them as im fed up of having them returned and making my sales figures rubbish. The casio sell in very low numbers, but its not uncommon to have the same camera back the 3 times it takes for a refund.
