ROBLATCH
i am absolutely fuming at the fact of my 11yr old daughters mobile phone being nicked whilst doing something she lovees. the story is my daughter is in a drama group and was performing in a panto at the local town hall.she called home at the interval to say how things were going and to say what time she would be arriving home.she put her phone back in the place where all of her other belonings were only to find that at the end of the panto her mobile was missing.we received a call from her teacher to say that her phone was missing after searching everywhere around the stage etc.we called the network operator who asked the usuals last call made etc etc,the operator then told us the phone was used numerous times after that to both local numbers and mobiles.i asked for a number called after the phone was missing but understandably they declined due to data protection but maybe if i get a crime number.i called the police who visited my home to ask the relevant questions. they advised me not to take the law in my own hands as mobile phone crime is a serious matter.when they finished asking all the questions to my surprise they told me the phone was NOT stolen as it was left unattended,to my desbeleif in hearing this i replied to them so does that mean if i am not sat in my car and it goes missing it has not been stolen ? he then replied thats different,i replied well wouldnt someone have handed it back or at least to the police if they hadnt had the intention of keeping it? he replied i cannot answer that at which time they left my home i think feeling a little embarrased. it rages me knowing that some theiving b-----d has stolen my daughters phone and can get away with it . but as they say i cannot take the law in my own hand as mobile phone crime is a serious matter sorry for the ramble but just needed it off my chest. Guest The Outlaw
If it were my girls phone I would get the provider to shut it down, renew the phone and number and wait for the next bill, it will have all calls made listed on it, unless its a Pay as you Go. Dean k
That is total rubbish, the theft definition is as follows : The Theft Act 1968 Section1 (1) states that a person is guilty of theft if: he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it. Well if the phone has been removed and is no where to be found then it has been stolen, ie theft act above (I should know this is my job). IMHO this sounds like the police in your area did not want to take statement/do any work !! We are not all like this honest!! Dean K
al4x
you should be able to get access to the calls, is it on contract? if so they will come with your next bill or if you are registered for online billing you can usually see them 2-3 days after they are made
dustyfox
If you are giving your children mobile phones I would give them Pay as you go with insurence. So if it does get stolen they can only spend the available credit. If it was a contract they could of phoned up premium rate phone calls and you could be facing a huge phone bill. ROBLATCH
the phone was on pay as you go.when here last call was made she had £9.03p balance and when reported phone should have been blocked straight away but when i called the server back to say that the phone had not been blocked as i have tried numerous times to call the phone and sometimes it rang and sometimes not the balance was nil.the phone is now blocked in the hands of some t----r.and no one seems to be interested in the fact the phone was stolen including the local police

Dean K got to agree dean k as IMO the minority of police of this character give those who are willing to do their job satfactory a bad name. dustyfox
Im actually surprised the Police came out, Ive had stuff knicked twice and all they do is give you a crime reference number and thats it. Well hope you get it back I remember working in this field and only walkers pedal bikes and horses where allowed. Then these motorbikes came up and I thought they would just go away so I didnt phone the police for the first 10 minutes, but they were being cheeky and making me look like a d***head by staying so I got in my van and phoned the police, they said they will be up as soon as possible, 30 minutes past no show and the motorbikes are still there so I phoned them up again and said that I am waiting and I will have to go soon and lock the gate so do you know when you are coming out. I waited another 15 minutes and thought there not coming so I locked the gate and as I was the police came. I took them to the field where the motorbikes where and they spoke to them. The motorbikers reply was I did not know we were not allowed. Then I said well I have put signs up but you keep ripping them down. The police just gave them a warning. So the next day I went back to the same field and low and behold the same motor bikers were back, but as soon as thy saw me they bolted it of to the other side of the land.
