Well after waiting days for the local hardware shop to open so i could mount my new scope,i suddenly remembered i had 2 sets of 25mm rings the same as the 30,s i was waiting for new bolts for DOH!! so basically i already had 16 of the bolts i was wanting :/:lol:

This afternoon,i mounted the new Leupold 4.5x14x50 VX111 onto my 22 250 and set out to zero.

1st shot, dead centre but over a foot low.4 shots later and it,s on the bull, was using Remmy soft points(got them cheap for this)so tried a Federal BT 55grn(my usual foxing round).Slightly right, but nothing to worry about.Attach the NV after altering the eye relief, fire again, sill on the mark....slightly high at 80yds,just where i want it.

Up onto the bales in the next field to set the parralax etc when it,s dark.

I put out the Fox-Pro in readiness and waited.About 4.05 as it was dusking in,out pops a rabbit at about 120yds.You,ll do.so scope is now focused. No i didn,t shoot the rabbit ???

Set the caller away just briefly for a couple of mins(more in hope than anticipation)then waited and checked around with the NV.

At about 4.20 i spot something moving in front of a gate on the edge of the wood, this is about 140yds away.I attach the unit and check, yep it,s a fox,and even better,it,s walking up the wall straight towards me.

Trigger set, safety off and mouse squeak in the mouth,by now it,s looming very large in the scope so i give a quick sqeal...nothing so i squeak a little louder,he stops and turns to face me.About 60yds.

X placed onto his left shoulder as i,m looking down on him, crack, "thump" and what a loud thump it was too. :/ Great to have the NV up and running again.

Big old Dog Fox,few teeth missing but fat as butter.

Tried a few calls up at the farm tonight but no show....wondering,was he the 1 that was mooching around here, taking the bait the farmer has been putting out.Was snowing when i left,so should find out soon enough.
