the hitman
I got a phone call from a friend who was going to be a gun down today on his shoot , "oh and bring that cocker of yours ". Ah well he's only 11 months , and still a bit head strong , but why not. I used one of those corkscrews to keep him tied down for the first drive , then let him pick up after . The second drive i'm walking gun , when a hare breaks , and off he goes in hot pursuit , nightmare. When he returns he's knackered, but worked a treat the rest of the day. The last 3 drives he picked as i shot them , then picked a lost woodcock for the shoot captain. So i'm well chuffed , but he still needs alot of work. ROBLATCH
good on you i love the breed.fantastic little workers and a pleasure to work with and watch.picking woodcock is an added bonus in my oppinion as i have seen the so called best dogs refuse to pick em apperently due to the bitterness in the dogs mouth, wether this is true or not i dont know but i have certainly seen very good dogs refuse to pick em. the hitman
We also had a walk up snipe drive , and the little man was like a dyson covering the ground. If only my shooting could have matched his hunting skills.

Ferretboy111
A Big risk to take a part trained, unsteady cocker on a shoot Only joking, im just jealous because i want to take my springer out on a shoot, but even though she is as steady as a rock and 10 months old, i dont want to risk anything going wrong, so next season is her time to shine. lurcherboy
Many a trained dog will break on a hare mate so don't sweat it. Sounds like a good one all the same LB
wy111
Many a trained dog will break on a hare mate so don't sweat it. Yep, seen it all. Blokes turn up with the "best" trained dogs. Hare gets up and it's like the Kentucky Derby. It's hilarious to see them go blue in the face with whistling and shouting. Surprising how many dogs are named bas***d.
