pigeon master
Hello 2 u all, It will soon be time when we can get our shooting hats on and get out onto the fields for some woodies. I just can not wait until some of these fields are cut so we can at them. I have been driving myself mad with the wait. It’s a good time to get some recces in so I'm off today with the bino's and a flask of tea, maybe coffee to do some woodie spotting. I was thinking of doing a bit of marketing for the club last night so tell me what you think, because it will help to strengthen to club and increase the areas to shoot for the members. If the club were to design a leaflet that could be posted on the club website its members could download it and then print the copies off to post in their local pubs and clubs. With the leaflets being from a club they will most probably get a better response than if they were from an individual posting a leaflet asking for pigeon control. I live in a rural area and there are lots of farmers that visit the twenty or so local country pubs in the area. Give me some feedback if you think it’s a good or bad idea, and if the response is good and members are willing to post adverts for the club in their locals then I will speak to John about it, and see where we go from there. It may be that this is not an avenue that John wants to go down but as members we should be trying to promote our club whenever possible. Happy woodie shooting, Justin The PM
the last engineer
i know im a little late in on this ,but without being offensive ,i think you have a great idea with the poster bit,and promotion of site, but is the idea of posters of shooting in a pub not a little negative nowadays ? like i said no offence, ive been out of the country for 12 years so im a little out of touch politics wise ?. or do the people not mind , we have a strict rule here as to shooting and drinking (dont the recoil will spill it all ) sorry couldnt help it as i said just curious as too the attitude of people good long and prospourous shooting to you all martin. eugene molloy
Justin, Putting a wee poster on the pub noticeboard....a good idea the boy will go far! It might not work, but it could, and it's worth a try. Remember the first rule of salesmanship....."you won't get the order unless you ask for it". Why not give it a bash as an individual? I'd just put a mobile number on it, not a landline or address; say you are a local bloke, BASC member and insured. (You are aren't you?) and CA member or whatever. As to proprietry matters, our village pub survives in the winter on shoot breakfsts / lunches / post shoot beer ups, so no problem in this neck of the woods. pigeon master
Hi guys and thanks for the comments. I have been speaking to John at the club recently and he informed me that he has contacted just about every farm in my area so I guess we wouldn’t make much progress compared to John who obviously has many contacts within the farming community. I run a CCTV Company and marketing is the core part of my business because without putting your name in front of potential clients means no business, but if we are club members then I think we should all get involved in some way to ensure our club remains our club. Making fellow shooters and local farmers aware of who we are and what services we offer can only strengthen our club which ensures we have the maximum amount of land to shoot on. I am only a new member of the NPPC, but I have already encountered that the club and its members are a friendly bunch of guys who are willing to help and give good advice to all members whether you are new to the game, or a veteran shooter. Don’t get me wrong I am not getting a salary from the NPPC, but I do know that if you are into the game of pigeon shooting then it’s a great club to be part of and I see it as top value. Well I’m off for something to eat now and having been out shooting for the last three days I will be tucking into 4 pigeon breasts rapped in bacon.mmmmmmm. Happy woody shooting The PM
