BSA Shaun
No good can come of them. Many a matrimonial solicitor is kept busy by people who thought they would get in contact with an old flame from school Lucikly I married my old flame from school, after meeting up again after 12 years! Agree with you though Mungler, unfortunately sites like this attract the worst kind of person, without saying the word, think children - internet - sicko's I think the use of these internet sites legitimately, if you want to then go for it, but I think for the sake of children etc they should be abolished. Anyone see Panorama the other night?
Dunkield
Anyone see Panorama the other night? Yes, very scary. Facebook is a groomers dream site, you only have to see the pictures and/or personal information that some girls put up there to see that. Guest The Outlaw
Facebook is supposed to be for over a certain age, I'm not sure how old but my daughter 11 used BEBO and MSN, she started turning into a cross between a yardy and Kevin from Harry Enfield, she has now been barred from using it by us. I have met up with my first ever girlfriend (when we were 10) on Friends reunited and now Facebook. Calam the girls and I went to her 40th birthday party last year and have had a good laugh together with her family, we are so alike all of us, its scarey but good fun reliving the good old days. We both have relationships built on love  and trust and would never do anything to spoil it. She is nothing like she used to be either, she looks like her scarey mum. I saw the documentary the other night and recorded it for my girls to watch, luckily the youngest has seen her sister get into trouble with us about her attitude change after being on it so she has no interest. The oldest of ours has seen it and now understands why we barred her from using it. Just need to get me sorted out from using PW so much, I think lots of massage and loadsa lovin to help my back probs will do it Tony
Dr W
As somebody has already correctly stated, if you really were "friends" you wouldn't have ignored each other for 20 years. There was a reason why you didn't keep in touch - probably that you thought they were a ***ker   Have to disagree there, there are many reasons why you might not still be in touch, I have got back in touch with quite a few people, one who moved to scotland when we finished school and I went my own way, another moved to Oz and slowly over time you loose touch. It's a nice way to stay up to date with what people are doing.

BSA Shaun
banning social networking sites because perverts might use them is a bit like banning guns because criminals use them...... I knew someone would put this argument, and no its not. Every time someone mentions something should be stopped, the old 'that's like banning guns' card gets played
J@mes
explain then.....
Jonsey
Yep I've got a facebook account, my little cousin kept sending me requests to join and then got all her uni mates to send me requests so I joined just to shut her up. Got a whole 7 friends. It's quite good fun. I have the highest security level set and there isn't any information on there you can see without me accepting you as a friend. I can see why parents are concerned though, people can send you things, virtual presents and super pokes without being your friend just being in the same network is enough for that . I wouldn't like a child of mine to be unsupervised using it.
BSA Shaun
explain then..... As I have said, too dangerous for children and alike. As you say guns are dangerous too, but they are licenced and all the rules in the world will not stop the idiots, but this I just see as another tool for the 'sicko's' that isn't necessary to be in existence. My 2p thats all.

My 2p thats all. Dangerous for children - so you wouldnt let your kid on it alone? A bit like I wouldnt let a child out alone with a gun. providing social networking sites are used in a controlled manner and under the observation of someone responsible then I cant see an issue - and look at the amount of perverts the authorities are catching through the use of these sites too! another 2p in the jar
BSA Shaun
look at the amount of perverts the authorities are catching through the use of these sites too! another 2p in the jar That I agree with mate. Its just the amount of children and teens that use it without parental supervision that scares me, how many have internet in their bedroom etc? Luckily I have a long wait for all of that, mine being 2 and 4
Guest The Outlaw
The age limit for Bebo and Myspace is 13 and facebook is 18. Tony
Dunkield
According to Facebook.. Takeup in the UK per capita is far greater than the US, most in/arround London, and most in 30 something age group. They plan to set up an office in London. T'was in an article on Radio 4.
