Fairuza
I'd like to add shooting to my list of hobbies, but I'm a complete novice and don't know where to start. I'm a uni student and I don't really know the area, so could some people please suggest where I can find a local club where there are some people who can show me the ropes and similar. Thanks Tara
Catamong
Hi Tara, Welcome to the forum, Clay Pigeon shooting is not a cheap hobby, it's beyond the reach of most Uni students, but here is a link to the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association website that lists clubs in your area: http://www.cpsa.co.uk/clubs/clubfinder.cfm...E&clubName= Check the opening times, then pay a visit on a Sunday morning, I'm sure you'll find plenty of friendly people to give advice. Good luck. Cat.
Fairuza
Thanks for the link, I think I might have to investigate those places sometime soon. Definately right about being a poor student, but I'm just hoping to purchase a gun and do a little basic shooting whilst I'm at uni, so when I get home my parents can invest in my latest interest. Hopefully buy me a launcher for the back yard hehe. I'm in a flat in Stoke, so I need to find somewhere to shoot (air rifle I suppose), but I plan to apply for an FAC when I get home. Any advice on guns for first timers?
Andy W
Not sure if you may have a problem getting a sgc if you live in a student flat, as said before clay shooting is an expensive hobby, Local to Stoke you have Doveridge & Cloudside which are shooting grounds and very expensive if you shoot at say 100 targets, local shoots you have Leek, Kingsley Moor, Cheddleton, Ipstones, Betley, Barthomley, Holmes Chapel, Shugborough to name just a few, there are loads of shoots going on. bk
I wouldnt recommend Cloudside, the owners are too busy to try and sell you stuff than be helpful.

Mad Scientist
Once you get to know them at Cloudside they stop flogging you stuff! The instructor is also great when you get to know him.......always happy to help when he's free. The sporting is pants but for skeet and DTL its not bad at all.
