HELLO. :lol:

THIS IS MY FIRST POSY ON THIS SITE AND IM NEW TO SHOT GUN SHOOTING.

i'M LOOKING FOR SOME ADVICE ON BUYING MY FIRST SHOT GUN.

MY BUDGET IS AROUND £500-£700 THE GUN WILL BE USED FOR SHOOTING PIGEONS/RABBITS AND PROBABLY SOME CLAYS. i WOULD PREFARE A NEW GUN TO A SECOND HAND ONE. PROBABLY 12G O/U WITH EJECTORS. LOTS OF FANCY INGRAVING AND GOLD BITS ARE NOT INPORTANT TO ME.

i'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT =

WINCHESTER SELECT =£650 NEW

LANBER =£550 NEW

FABARM =£6OO NEW

WHAT WOULD YOU THINK/SUGGEST TO THIS. THANK YOU

Don't rule out a s/h Beretta or Browning/Miroku etc, they may cost a bit more but very rarely go wrong and will give years of service, eg my 686 sporter bought s/h in 1994 for £750 has had approx 15000 cartridges through it has been serviced once (last month) nothing has ever gone wrong with it and it's still worth at least £500 even as a private sale.

I would make gun fit a more important factor than make/model or price.

Happy hunting!

Thanks for the replies you two. :lol: its much apriceated.

I'm always wary about buying second hand guns you can pick some good bargins up but there are also some bad ones.

the lamber sounds like a verry good gun. everyone I've spoken to about buying a shotgun has said how reliable they are. they seem very good value for money and well worth looking at.

thanks again shane. :lol:

Kipper i bought my first shotgun a lanber sporter second hand from my local gun dealer (thanks too Andersons in Aberedeen). He couldn't have been more helpful, and I'm sure like most dealers selling second hand guns had serviced it himself before putting it on the shelf to ensure it was all in tip top condition. And I must say it has been faultless, he even posted out the choke key the next day after he couldn't find it when I picked up my gun.

Have no fear buying second hand from a dealer they still have a reputation to keep.
