RossM
Just wondering if a barrel can be shortened easily or if not how much does it cost to get done? Also how much does reblueing of a barrel cost? Just wondering for a .177 bsa supersport project i'm working on.
berettaman1
thats no problem shortening the barrel, if you can get access to a lathe as it will need recrowning afterwards. the rebluing is usually more expensive, ask on this forum if any of the members work in engineering and live near you, thats the cheapest way to get it done. SNAKEBITE
If you take care then you will only need to reblue the end of the barrel where you have machined it. Any decent turner can do this. They will put the barrell in soft jaws on a lathe, keeping marking down to a minimum by using something to protect the finish. Part off the gash piece and recrown the end. You should be able to reblue it yourself with one of those nastey chemical kits that are available as the amount of metal showing that you have cut will be minimal. Good luck.
