FBF
my brother has a staf, its a very nice dog as i have found all stafs to be, but interestingly it was left outside of a shop last week as he always does and a car stopped and tried to coax the dog in to the car. my brothers dog unexpectedly growled and barked at the men and then my brother rushed out to have a scream and a shout before the sped off. i wonder if this is something you could condition a dog to do? im constantly worried about my dogs roaming my back field being spotted and grabbed from the gate. im almost certain they would follow anyone that spoke to them

henry d
FBF - I also allow my dogs to bark and generally go bananas whenever people come to the door and one day when we were all at home the dogs went mental and ran to the back door. I let them out and they must have heard the back gate open and as we were all at home they knew it was an intruder and lo and behold some thieving (please insert swearie here) had tried to nick my hardwood garden seat. gav
i was made aware by the authorities < dog warden > when i fell out with him over exercising my 9 dogs in my local park <they where all walking to heel > apparently a dog only has to cause someone fear to be classed as dangerous !! dunno how true this is i do know 1 of my neighbours 3 years ago let her dog in to her garden perpously to bark at a boy getting his ball back for the umpteenth time well the boy screamed the dog bit she ended up in court and the dog i think was destroyed ! duey
I believe you only have a leg to stand on legally if the dog is tethered, even on your own property, if it bites someone while tethered its their fault not yours Ian
