David BASC
Dear all With immediate effect Defra have granted a General Licence EXD363(WB)E for the resumption of Game bird shooting and pest bird shooting in the Monitoring (10km) area. The catching of wild game birds (catching up) in the Monitoring (10km) area. The trapping of pest wild bird species in the monitoring area (10km) and the Control area (3km) For the purposes of this Licence Woodcock and Snipe are classed as wild game birds. Duck and geese are still banned from being shot in both areas 3km and 10km. As with all General licences there are conditions which must be complied with so please ensure when talking to members that they are familiar with the conditions of the General licence and you are too. BASC would suggest that to save a lot of time if challenged, one member of the shooting party should carry a copy of the licence. The BASC website has been updated and the licence can be accessed from there. David

Country Boy
Just wondered if this latest outbreak will affect any PW members who shoot in Oxon - Banbury across to Shipston on Stour and down nearly to Chipping Norton, maybe it could be Will Beasley's area I don't know? Country Boy
At the moment yes....why? We dont have much land near the outbreak zone so it hasnt affected us......... I was just curious if defra could actually stop pigeon shooting in a so-called infected area, or if it could continue with the shooters following the bio-security recommendations  CB
