poppythedog
My Springer is due to whelp in about 5 weeks, does anyone know of a vet in North Hampshire as close to Basingstoke as possible, who will carry out tail docking and dew claw removal? MadSpringer
If you have difficulty finding a vet to carry out tail docking look here http://www.cdb.org/ Council for Docked Breeds Vets a now under a lot of pressure not to perform tail docking! If you join the Council for Docked Breeds they will put you in contact with a vet prepared to do it, be prepared to travel, I had to travel 26 miles to get my litter done both my local vets would not do it due to pressure from the Royal Veterinary College! Both vets totally agreed with the need to dock working dogs but weren't prepared to go against the wishes of the RVC! Consider leaving the front dew claws on, I've never experienced a problem with them, they can help a dog grip when trying to climb obstacles.
