matto
Hi all. While out decoying on my farmland i shot a racing pigeon.I did not know till the end of the day when picking up. I have removed the ring from the dead bird and contacted my local police who were no help at all. Does anybody know who to contact in these situations. Most people would probably do nothing but im just following the BASC code of practice.
pigeon master
You can call yourself a credit to shooting then mate. My brother races pigeon and I shoot them, he has had birds bag that have holes right through them and he understands that when on the wing they face many faces of death, but even he would prefer to find out one was shot by mistake than to never know. These people pay as much for one pigeon as we do our guns so you can understand why they would like to know either way. I will contact him and find out unless someone beats me to it. Bye for now The PM
dazza
IVE SHOT A FEW MYSELF BY MISTAKE. I PHONE MY LOCAL PIGEON CLUB AND GIVE THEM THE NUMBER ON THE RING, THEY CAN TELL BY THE NUMBER WHO OWNS THE PIGEON AND GET IN CONTACT WITH THEM. IT'S BETTER TO LET THEM KNOW IT'S DEAD RATHER THAN HAVE THEM WAITING FOR DAYS ON IT RETURNING TO THE LOFT
Fisherman Mike
Contact the followingRoyal Pigeon Racing association They are just up the road from me at Cheltenham. You can give the number on line and find out where the bird came from. Well done mate accidents do happen. I kept racing pigeons for 8 years and would always want to know if a bird wasnt coming back.
