markbivvy
wait approx 5 years after the community service has finished. Then try. Edited February 7, 2008 by markbivvy
webber
That may not necessarily be the case. It would depend on the reason for the CS. However Markbivys answer is likely correct. webber
David BASC
Yep will depend on the 'crime' but 5 years would only apply I think' if there was a short term custodial sentence. If you want the definitive, I will check with our firearms team tomorrow. D

markbivvy
if you talking legal, you could apply next year , but the firearms department wont even consider it until the offender has done 3 years with no bother. i know a chap who had to wait 8 years , and he did no bird. njc110381
In my opinion, he has more chance of getting knighted To apply for a gun certificate of any kind now would probably result in the firearms team rolling around the office in fits of laughter! I'd say don't even attempt it. I think you have to wait 5 years from any conviction, and if it was more than 3 years in custody you're a write off for life. I got community service for an explosives charge and left it 7 years before applying. I got my certificates with very little bother. I'd say to apply now would be a really bad idea
