jonno
I asked if anyone had a specific model (BTVS) a few days ago but no reponses, so I guess they aren't that popular! Has anyone got any Savage .22 or .17 and what do they think of it? Thanks.
chrisv
I have a Savage stainless 17HMR that Fister put in a new stock, so it now is the same spec as a BTVS. I've never been a big fan of thumbhole stocks, but now that I've got used to it, I find it very stable and comfortable to use. There are a few things about the gun that seem a bit cheaply made- The magazine attaches by sliding up a piece of metal that sticks out of the bottom of the action which is a bit fiddly. The action itself is just a tube that the bolt slides into, and looks a bit basic. Overall though I really like the gun, accuracy at the range is acceptable if not spectacular, but it hits what you aim at in the field. Obviously I paid second-hand price for it and I wouldn't rush to swap it for anything else (they look great in the brown laminate as well!). Hope this helps, Chris

BigGun1
Hi! Had a Lakefield MKII that is identical to a Savage 98 and it was great! Sllick action, easy to get bits for, light weight, and one hole groups at 50 yards! Sadly sold it now, but would buy it back if I got the chance!
