BUSA Clay Shoot from last Saturday

Was my first visit to West Midland Shooting Ground, and i was impressed nice set up and plenty to shoot.

Anyway i was there representing Sheffield Uni along with 3 other lads and it was the first time Sheffield had entered into clay shooting. Well i happened to have an exceptional day, i finished on a 45 ex 50 on the sporting layout and our team flush score was 44 ex 50 which we were happy with. I didnt stick around for the final scores as someone had put in a 46. Got an email today saying that the score had been calculated wrong and i came joint first  . To say i'm pleased is an under statement, 350 entries and joint first!

We are now looking to start a Uni club and have been told by the sports comitee that we have a chance of being funded. But is there a road we can go down for sponsership, just for the odd jacket for the team? Anyone done this sort of thing before and if so how did you do it?

Congrats bud, i finished uni last year and had similar troubles setting up a clay shooting club with my london uni.

They were all fine to give some money towards expenses when going to BUSA etc however anything else they wouldn't do anything, so as a result i used to shoot with another london uni who had an established club. However even then there was the issue of club guns and who has access (usually joint so that a senior member of the club with a university principal) was a nightmare !! Too put it bluntly it was serious hassle/beauracracy that i couldn't be bothered with as i could shoot at home with my own guns easy peasy etc etc.. If your uni has money to burn and is quite open to allowing shooting sports then give it ago, however they're not keen on spending union money on guns, security issues, cabinets etc....
