Teal
Hi I have just seen this companies website. Biofuels Corporation is to build the first of two 250,000 mt biodiesel processing plants on the Simon Storage site in Seal Sands, Middlesbrough on the north east coast of England. One North East is supporting the Tees Valley location which offers a deep water port and a well established infrastructure. This will be the world's largest biodiesel complex with an initial investment of over £48 million. Build is expected to start in June 2004 and is scheduled for completion early 2005. Production of 284 million litres of biodiesel will use renewable vegetable oil crops such as rape seed oil as the feedstock. The second plant is planned to start build in 2005 bringing the total biodiesel production to 568 million litres by 2006. Future sites under consideration for biodiesel plants include other ports in the UK and mainland Europe. http://www.biofuelscorp.com/project.htm Obviously these are just two initial projects but if it takes off (and with the high price of oil at the moment people will be looking hard for alternatives) we could see farmers growing more oil seed rape over the coming decade. Fisherman Mike
Without doubt Teal and good job too... I understand that oil reserves will start to dwindle in about 45 years time, the American fields having peaked in the 70,s.. As I have mentioned before in another topic Petrol prices will only increase steadiliy as reserves decrease.. and at the rate the yanks are using it this will be bloodly quickly... The amount of Petrol we use in comparison to them is a **** drop in a pond... We will be growing rape, pea nuts, lupins, etc etc and there will be a pigeon explosion like bloody locusts... yipeeeeee FM.
ernyha
Why are the plants being built at deep water docks? Does this mean most of the rape etc will be imported or the bio-diesel exported? As shooters and motorists, perhaps not quite as exciting as first thought. Still good news though.
