Stillsy
If i said i have a couple of woods were pheasants roost, and i wanted to catch up some pheasants! how would you aproach it? Thanks Edited March 16, 2008 by Stillsy
CharlieT
A large butterfly net and a good camouflage suit. Scatter some corn around and when pheasant appears move swiftly and catch it with your net. Seriously though, build yourself a square cage 10"x10"x5" out of chicken wire and timber with a door in one side and fix a tunnel into one or two of the other sides at ground level. The same sort of tunnel/pop-hole you would use in a release pen. Feed with corn. Job done. For a few days prop one side of the catcher up a foot or so and feed so as to attract the birds and get good numbers coming to feed . Then at dusk un-prop the trap and set it. The next day with any luck you should have a good catch. Don't set it to early the night before or you stand the chance of catching a bird which Mr. Fox may find and then he will mess up your well laid plans. Millomite
Hasn't it gotta be done in season though?
Browning
Hasn't it gotta be done in season though? Scott is correct, you can only catch up in season. Apparently Defra thought this was a good idea.
