Mascheranno (spelling) was pushing his luck through out the match,,but when he was sent of he looked to be just asking a simple question,,(what happened),what i'd like to know is where was Gerrard when the **** hit the fan, is he the captian or not...

On that point about twenty mins after sending off, fergies bitch gave them another free kick and you could plainly see gerrard mouth the words "your ******* taking the ****"right in the refs face! The ref didnt even bat an eyelid he just stood there looking at him,but i suppose he had done enough to ensure man u won the game by then so he didnt need to send anyone else off did he.

If they had started sending off every player for dissent at the start of the season man u would be second bottom of the league just ahead of chelski because neither of them would have finished a game with more than 6 players.

Mascherano deserved to walk for his attempts at challenging the ref, but the most annoying thing is the way the referees have been inconsistent for years over this sort of behaviour. We`ll see the same thing happening next week to one degree or another & the refs will still be inconsistent. The refs haven`t been backed by the FA or Premiership enough over the years & have therefore lacked the backbone to stamp their authority, must say I don`t recall Uriah Rennie getting a deal of lip from players in the past.

The players seem to forget that if the referees allow the game to go on in an unruly fashion (which is what a lot appear to want) then it just isn`t football anymore, it turns into 22 blokes kicking a ball (& each other) around a bit of grass without any rules which to me isn`t football.

Any fans of Manchester know their team have been very adept at using intimidation & sledging of the ref to get the best results for their club, they just used to do it mob handed (most refs haven`t got the bottle to book 4/5 players in one go for abuse). This tactic worked well for them for many years which makes me question the motives of Fergies comments after the game on Sunday especially after his comments before the match about protecting his players !

The best referee I`ve seen was during a rugby league match where everything the ref & players said was audible he had some instant put downs that stopped any descent in its tracks (although there was very little of it). The second best was another rugby league ref in France who was being verbally & physically challenged by a fan, role camera.... a few jabs & hooks later the fan clambers back over the fence back into the crowd.
