Diceman
Hi All ..new here, be gentle... We need a new spring for our Bowman Clay trap, trouble is I have no idea how old or what model it is, although it looks just like a SuperMatch 8. I'm tempted just to order one for this model and hope it fits, but I don't know how crucial it is to get exactly the right spring - obviously don't want to overload the motor with something too powerful or screw the performance with something too weak. Does anyone know anything about such things? The spring is green, 1 3/4 wide & 8" long excluding hooks, one of which has snapped off so I don't know the total original length. The Bowman website is rubbish so no help there. Alternatively - any recommendations for a good website or better still, Bowman dealer in North Bucks / Northants ? Thanks all BJ
Emmsy
ring bowman they are very helpfull, i had an old pedal trap and restored it to its former glory. im pretty sure most of the old traps used the same spring so you shouldnt get any problems getting a spare or 2. only thing you will need to tell them is if you have a single or double arm, the doubles have a stronger spring on them but both will work ok. Diceman
Thank you all. I actually called Bowman on Friday, which I should have done in the first place to be honest, and they were incredibly helpful. Faxed me a 'spring identification guide" within minutes and they can supply springs direct. I spend too long in front of this damn computer, forums, online shopping, amazon, ebay.... and keep forgetting that we can still use the 'phone and talk to real people like we did in the good old days...so I will remember to call Mr Broadway when we are ready to invest in some new traps!
