Salop Matt
Okay folks, all my clay shooting has been sporting and often small shoots done buy farmers etc so my knowledge of the other diciplins is almost none existant ! Can someone extplain abit about DTL and can anyone recomend a place to go to give the DTL a go ? (Shropshire / Midlands area) The reason I ask is that Mrs S/S is new to shooting and struggling with her crossers so as its early days still I want to help her build some confidence. Someone suggested that if shes good at going away birds esp a clay driven from behind then DTL is a disiplin she may do well at
Markio
DTL birds are driven away but from in front of you. Go for skeet if you want the practice. The are consistent, you know where they are coming from and are a great confidence builder. You've got going away birds, incommers, quartering and crossers that she can practice on. It's not a recommendation by the way, just a suggestion. Edited April 10, 2008 by Markio
Salop Matt
Other than sporting most disciplines seem to require a group of you but offten there is normally only 2 of us and at most 3 which leaves us stuffed !

Hi B`man1, No worries We have been 3 times in the last 2 months now and last weekend Mrs SS shot to, she shared my card on the sporting clays and had shots on single clays on the easyr stands ( and i didnt shoot the stands she had a go at) ! We didnt know about the practise stand till we had finished but she has shot simlar stands before and now can hit 8-9 out of 10. So i think she is just passed that stage now. (off to Ironbridge (ruperts) this weekend which will be nice as she shoots well there ) On the first stand by the pond last weekend the first going away bird from behind she shot 5/6( made dust of them) but struggles with crossers! So if i can find somthing where she can shoot single birds on 3-4 stands and hit 6-10 i think she would be well chuffed and be able to build from there to taking pairs or singles but more difficult ! Its great and very rewarding when she does hit the clays it makes us both simile and am loving having something in common with her such as shooting as its what iv been bought up around ! I am sure that with 2 years she will be regularly beating me though.

You can shoot skeet with one person if they have claymate! Nothing wrong about just the two of you on a skeet range.

Dam i feel a dumb a$$ ! lol Ah, i wonder if you're thinking of 5 per squad in competitions etc (someone in the know will confirm i'm sure). Doesn't matter for practice though.
