gadgit
I'd say there is no such thing as a gun just for a new shooter. If you are going to do clays and game, including pigeons get a sporting gun. This will do everything you want to do. If you have loads of dosh, buy a really good make, but make sure it fits you properly. A good gun shop will show you how it should fit. Don't think you will start hitting things at first, but if you do, you might just have the right gun, and it just might be the cheaper one! You could go down the path of buying a cheap gun for a start, for a few hundred, but you will always feel you could have done better. You should get loads of advice now your thread is up and running. Just don't rush out and buy the first one you like the look of, although thats what most people do?? Good luck!!

p@cman
Like Gadgit and Maiden have both said, make sure you get one that fits you. That was the main piece of advice given to me when I was looking for my first shotgun and it was sound advice indeed.
