sussex lad
Is there a limit on how much powder you can store at home?? The reason being is that last month i brought a tub of Varget for 37.99 gone up from 31.99 about six months ago.. This afternoon i am going with my brother to collect his new rifle from another RFD about an hour and a half away. And his Varget is 29.99 so i,m thinking while i,m there i might stock up on maybe 4 tubs which may even bring a further discount for cash!! wy111
You can store upto 5 kg's of Nitro-cellulose based powders without any problem. Over 5 kg's, your premises must be registered with the police for storage of Nitro-cellulose based powders. clayman
WY111 is correct. There is a limit in wt for the storage of various types of powder. Black powder and fireworks come into the same, but cannot be stored with Nitro-powders that have a different limit. Trading standards in each county usually handle Explosives Storage Licenses. The limit applied to loaded ammunition, or loose powder, but it is only for the wt of powder IN the ammo, not the gross wt - so you can store up to about 10,000 28g shotgun shells before you need an Explosives license.
