elmer fudd
Is there any difference or advantage in the different lenghths ? 28, 30. Thinking of a Beretta semi auto for decoying and hide work and some clays. One shooter i know says get a wood stock so it can be fitted ? Is this being too fussy? What do you think ? cappy0766
If you are shooting from a hide you dont want too long a barrel, it would be awkward to manouvre. 28'' is a good all rounder and most guns, semi, pump or double come in this length. chrispti
I use a beretta semi, 26'' use it for clays, pigeon, fowling etc
elmer fudd
thanks ,I`ve just been looking at a gunshop web site and it`s seems only certain models offer a choice of lengths. Does anyone bother having a wood stock altered to fit ?
clayman
Semi barrela and O/U - S/S barrels do not equate exactly. If you place a 26" Semi beside a 28" U/O you will see the total gun length is about the same, so when comparing S/A and break action gun barrels , add 2" to the semi's quoted length. Yes, having wood fitted is worth while WHEN you know how to shoot. As a coach and fitter, I would estimate 75% of persons coming for a Gun Fit ( ie can't hit much - must be the gun) actually need lessons in stance and mount.. Unless its seriously out, don't play with the wood till you can shoot properly. Jerry
elmer fudd
Thanks clayman, wise words indeed. Think I`ll get a few lessons. Just discovered the other week that I`ve got a dominant left eye and right handed. RFD`s should think about doing the test with all shotgun buyers I think.
