stirky
Been for a look around this aft, found plenty of pigeons feeding under beech trees or feeding on maize stubble. I thought it worth a call to see the farmer to try to get permision but got the usual sorry mate, but i have a chap that shoots on here and i dont want to upset him by letting you shoot as well. On the farms that i can shoot on all i have is rape and the pigeons are not feeding on that yet, its a bit frustrating but thats pigeon shooting. henry d
Hi stirky,Hows about giving the farmer your phone no. and tell him that if the guy can`t do the job as frequently as necessary he should give you a call. It`s worth a try,and if you can provide a 1st class service word of mouth will open more doors for you!Good luck. stirky
Just on with some business cards so i can drop one off next time i am over that way, i suppose the farmers would rather leave the pigeons to feed on the maize stuble & beech mast as they are not doing any crop damage, as long as the birds are feeding on that they are not on his crops (yet). Nothing feeding on rape yet mine is about 2" tall at the moment, this year he has planted rape in good places to shoot lets hope the birds will hang about. Axel
Examined the crops of some pigeons I shot last week and what a mixture! Lot of Beechmast nuts but also corn, OSR leaves and what looked like beans? (round, dark about 7mm in diameter). The yseem to have so much to eat at the moment that its hard to get a decent size bag in one location, yes? Axel.
