petersclan
hiya all, just a few questions to ask about semi auto's if possible as i used one for the first time today and thought it was a real good gun and thinking of getting one. firstly i take it that to prepare the gun for firing you are to oil the breach (dont know correct name for shotgun) very well as obviously it moves back and forth with every cartride fired. also when gun stripped for cleaning we have worked out how to remove barrel but is breach block also removable to clean and how is this done, it looks like cocking handle comes out but could not figure it out. any help much appreciated and sorry if confusing
JohnGalway
This is important. Too much oil on any gun is always a BAD thing. My semi gets a wipe down with a lightly oiled cloth after cleaning and no more than that unless I'm storing it for a long time. Also I store it muzzle down in that case so no oil runs back onto the stock. The way the action comes out of mine is indeed to pull out the cocking handle
2shots
DONT OVER OIL THE GUN LITTLE BUT OFTEN IS GOOD NOT DRIPPING WET THE COCKING LEVER JUST PULLS OUT WHEN YOU LINE THE GROOVES UP WHERE IT FITS IN PROPERLY, IF YOU LOOK AT WHERE THE COCKING LEVER FITS IN YOU CAN SEE THE TWO GROOVES THAT NEED TO LINE UP TO REMOVE THE LEVER AND FIRING PIN UNIT,MOVE THE ACTION BACK AND FORWARD TO LINE THE GROOVES AND PULL THE LEVER YOU CAN ALSO KNOCK THE TWO PINS OUT IN THE ACTION BODY TO REMOVE THE TRIGGER UNIT TO CLEAN IT, REFITTING IS JUST A REVERSAL,
clayman
As the others say, keep it clean and minimise oil. I wash out the parts with thinners to get the gunge out, lightly spray with PH gun oil aerosol, wipe all excess off and re-assemble. If its gas operated, check the gas port as well. Andy W
If its a Beretta, remove the cocking lever, knock out the pins which retain the trigger assembly and remove the assembly or drop down a couple of mm and the entire locking block will slide easily out provided the fore end nut, fore end, barrel, piston etc has all been removed, assembly is easy as long as you fit the trigger assembly last or else the breech block slide becomes a real pig to fit into the breech.
