dunganick
Never found it enjoyable mate. I would never take a shot at a deer on the run, neither do i stalk. Running boar is the same action, albeit half the distance with a scoring zone half the size. It is also alot less money per shot. Never liked taking 12 shots in close succession, the barrel certainly wont thank you for it. Also using handloads i know how long each one of those rounds took to make. Done it a few times, dont normally bother anymore, the Stalkers test is more fun and can actually be related to shooting skills i could see myself using. Dunkield
Also using handloads i know how long each one of those rounds took to make. One of reasons I packed it in I hear what you are saying Nick, I can never get consistant running deer scores and the gun does get a bit hot. I can shoot well up into the 90's on the static deer (just not on PW days B) ) and did well on the static and running boar last time, but can't workout how people hit that deer so consistantly I had best not make any comments about shooting running deer in real life the PW HSE boys will down on me like ton of bricks

This way you think your actually shooting a rimfire and can put the huge cost at the back of your mind. Talk about cheap thrills, this is not. Dunkield
The trick is to use factory ammo, have too much money and use low recoil calibres. The guy who came second last year and may well win it this year uses PPU ammo, but shoots a 25-06, so one out of 3 To be honest I shoot less rounds doing this than on a 'normal' range day, and I find static range days mind numbingly boring (there I have said it ) )

Dunkield
You are absolutely right Nick, the running stuff a bit of fun, but hopefully we will be shooting some live running stuff in November. Probably because I had to do static range/load testing days when I was re-loading I just got fed up with them. The important thing is to practice what is of use to you in the field. I shoot more live stuff now then I did then, so I get enough practice in the field, I only go to the range if I change something.
